About Us

Hi, I’m Lori. Welcome to Everyday Truth!

Everyday Truth is a site devoted to helping moms and dads recognize and take advantage of the everyday moments in our lives that we can use to teach our children about God.

We all lead busy lives. I’m the mom of two active girls. I’m the chief chauffeur, cook, maid and cheerleader. If I’m not driving someone somewhere, I’m cheering them on at a soccer or hockey game. We’re busy with school, work, church, scouts and sports. I know your lives probably look a lot like mine.

The spark for Everyday Truth came from trying to find time to teach my kids about God in the midst of all this busyness. One day, I stumbled across these verses in Deuteronomy.

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” (Exodus 6:6-9, NIV)

It dawned on me that God doesn’t want us to carve out a half hour in each day to teach our children about Him. He wants to be so much a part of our lives that we’re teaching our children as we go – in the car, at the dinner table, before they go to bed.

It was out of this revelation that Everyday Truth was born. It is my hope and prayer that you find encouragement and ideas on this site to include conversation about God in the everyday moments in your life.

But I don’t want Everyday Truth to be your stopping point. I hope it’s a launching point that helps you look for those everyday moments that you can use to teach your kids about God.

Come share the parenting journey with us. I can promise you’ll find love, encouragement, some tears and lots of laughter along the way.

Welcome to the Everyday Truth family.

Thank-you for your encouraging posts! I love these verses in Exodus. We find ourselves clinging hard to the Lord lately! We feel like we have stumbled into Paul’s world in many ways with the many temples, incense, gods and food sacrificed to idols. Life in Asia is much different from our busy suburban life in Kansas! However, thankfully, God’s Word is eternal and fitting for all situations. May He truly bless you as you cling to Him with all your heart, strength and mind!

Love your website/blog/newsletter… all of it. You are a blessing. I have a daily radio program on our local Christian station and would love to use some of your comments about Thanksgiving. Of course you will get all the credit (mention) in the program. If you care to listen it will air next week – Thanksgiving week- each day at 7:30 and 5:20. Here’s the link. God bless you for all you are doing to be a blessing to families. We share a common heart for God and His people — especially moms and daddies and kiddos.
